Position Description
The UCI Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for postdoctoral scholar positions in Professor Michelle Digman’s laboratory. We are looking for an innovative and skilled researcher to engineer a new imaging platform for bioluminescent detection through a funded project for deep tissue imaging in collaboration with Prof. Jennifer Prescher's Lab.
Requirements: Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Optics, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related fields. Applicant must have proven experience in developing optical imaging instrumentation and familiarity with nonlinear optical microscopy techniques. Proficiency in computational image analysis and software development for imaging, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team are also required.
Solid understanding of geometric optics, physical optics, Fourier optics, and/or imaging theory, proficiency in optical/electrical test and measurement tools and experience with CAD design software (e.g., Solidworks, Onshape) is preferred. Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in building and aligning optical imaging/microscopy systems and willingness to learn new methods, protocols, and technologies are also preferred.
Note that the University of California limits the total duration of an individual’s postdoctoral service to five years, including postdoctoral service at other institutions.
