Texas A&M AgriLife Research in El Paso seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Arid Hydrology and Water Systems group. The role focuses on transboundary and shared water resources modeling, integrating NASA EO products with in situ data to support U.S.–Mexico treaty‑based planning.

The successful candidate will work with U.S.–Mexico stakeholders and agencies, develop data‑driven tools, and contribute to peer‑reviewed publications.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Hydrology, Water Resources Eng., Environmental Eng., Civil Eng., Agricultural Eng., Geosciences, or closely related field with remote sensing data application at appointment.
• Peer‑reviewed publications in hydrology, water resources, environmental modeling, remote sensing, or related domains.
• Strong knowledge of hydrologic processes, transboundary water resources management, and coupled human–natural systems.
• Proficiency in geospatial and scientific computing tools (Python, R, GIS, Google Earth Engine, or equivalent).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and validate remote-sensing–enabled models for transboundary surface-water and groundwater assessment.
• Configure, calibrate, and apply hydrologic and groundwater modeling systems (SWAT+/gwflow/MODFLOW, ParFlow).
• Design and implement AI/ML–based predictive frameworks for water availability and drought impacts.
• Lead data collection, QA/QC, harmonization, and processing of diverse datasets for the TMDH framework.
• Develop APIs, dashboards, and decision-support tools for IBWC, NADBank, and stakeholders.
