Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop novel chelation platforms for s-, p-, and f-block radioactive ions for nuclear medicine. You will design, synthesize, and evaluate chelators, independently drive multi-step syntheses, and apply diverse analytical methods to assess metal complexation.

Collaboration, publication, and high-quality data generation are expected. Applicants should have a PhD in chemistry or nuclear chemistry within the last five years,

Qualifications

• PhD completed within the last five years in chemistry or a related field.
• Experience performing complex multi-step organic synthesis and characterisation of compounds.
• Experience in radiochemistry or willingness to learn radiochemical techniques.
• Strong scientific communication and publication record.

Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and evaluate novel chelators for radioactive ions.
• Independently run complex syntheses on multi-gram scale including purification.
• Characterize chelator structure and metal complexation with various analytical techniques.
• Plan experiments, interpret results, troubleshoot, and develop next steps.
• Collaborate across disciplines and present findings at meetings and in journals.
• Maintain thorough experimental records and ensure safety and quality.
