Job summary

Boston University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance neuroimaging-based studies of language recovery after stroke within the Center for Brain Recovery. You will join an interdisciplinary team combining neuroscience, engineering, and data science to develop prognostic frameworks and precision therapeutics for aphasia.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in neuroscience, neuroimaging, computational neuroscience, biomedical engineering, data science, psychology, or related field.
• Strong experience with fMRI data acquisition and analysis.
• Proficiency in neuroimaging analysis software (FSL, SPM, AFNI) and programming languages (Python, MATLAB, or R).
• Experience with structural connectivity analysis and/or computational modeling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
• Commitment to ethical research practices and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and analyze fMRI studies investigating language processing and brain networks in aphasia.
• Develop and refine computational pipelines for directional temporal-frontal connectivity analyses.
• Build lesion-informed cortical-dynamics simulations and patient-specific connectivity models.
• Create personalized digital twins to identify recruitable language function and neuroprosthesis targets.
• Develop ML models to predict recovery prognosis and treatment response from multimodal data.
• Coordinate recruitment and manage data collection for stroke survivors with aphasia.
