UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the lab of Dr. Naima Dahir.

The successful candidate will investigate how the central nervous system regulates metabolic homeostasis using genetically engineered tools (Cre/LoxP, optogenetics, DREADDs) and neuroanatomical/molecular techniques. Candidates must have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, or related field.

Job description

This position is for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the lab of Dr. Naima Dahir. The postdoc will investigate the mechanism by which the central nervous system (CNS) regulates metabolic homeostasis. This will include identifying novel gene candidates invovled in the regulation of metabolism by using variety of tools/techniques: genetically engineered tools (e.g., Cre/LoxP, optogenetics, chemogenetics DREADDs, and Ca2+ imaging), neuroanatomical methods (e.g., immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and light-sheet microscopy with tissue-clearing), molecular biology (e.g., RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, and CRISPR/Cas9), surgical techniques (e.g., icv injection, targeted microinjection, and jugular vein catheter), and electrophysiology.

Candidate must have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, or related field.
