Qualifications

• Ph.D. required in Earth or environmental science, atmospheric science, geography, mathematics, statistics, computer sciences, or related fields.
• Ph.D. must be completed by start date of appointment.
• Experience with analysis of large observational and/or model climate datasets.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Personal enthusiasm for project goals.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as contribute to a team.

Responsibilities

• The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will work in the area of compounding and cascading extreme weather events.
• Research tasks include statistical analysis of historical observations and model simulations of compounding events and evaluation of data-driven earth system model simulations for compounding events.
• The postdoc researcher will support multiple NOAA and NSF funded projects by collaborating with researchers from NC State University, NOAA, and international collaborators.
