Job description

Heart Rhythm Services at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking a highly motivated Postdoc Research Fellow for a one-to-two-year clinical research training opportunity focused on clinical cardiac electrophysiology. This opportunity is designed to help develop the next generation of clinical electrophysiologists through focused research training and individualized mentorship. The fellow will work closely with one or two primary faculty mentors to develop expertise in clinical investigation, advance clinically meaningful research, and build a foundation for a career in academic electrophysiology.

A primary responsibility will be the continued development and maintenance of a divisional clinical registry to support ongoing investigations, future research, and publications. Under faculty guidance, the fellow will refine the registry’s design and organization, establish standardized data definitions, coordinate clinical data collection, and implement processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. The fellow will also maintain registry documentation and prepare research-ready datasets while adhering to applicable research protocols, patient confidentiality requirements, and institutional policies.

Working closely with faculty mentors and research collaborators, the fellow will help formulate research questions, review relevant literature, and contribute to data analysis and interpretation. The fellow will be expected to take an active role in advancing projects from study conception through abstract preparation, manuscript development, and submission, with the goal of publishing high-quality clinical research in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.

The fellow will also be encouraged to submit abstracts to and participate in national electrophysiology meetings, providing opportunities to present research findings, expand professional networks, and develop collaborations with electrophysiology faculty and investigators. Faculty mentorship will emphasize clinical research methods, registry-based investigation, scientific writing, and professional development aligned with the fellow’s career goals.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
