Job description

General Summary of Position:


The Advanced Composite Materials and Textile Research Lab (ACMTRL) at University Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a Post-doctoral Research Associate to assist in studies related to computational structural mechanics. This research position is available for an NSF-funded project focused on creating computational models of materials used for energy storage.


Minimum Qualifications (Required):


Education:



  • An earned PhD in Mechanical Engineering


Experience:



  • Requires knowledge of the finite element modelling, with emphasis on cohesive zone models, homogenized techniques, user-defined material models, and Finite Element Method implementation through custom code. Additionally, experimental characterization of interfaces is required.

  • Contributing to Proposal writing

  • Industry collaboration

  • Supervision of the work of others


Skills:



  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work as a team player

  • Quantitative research methods


Additional Considerations:



  • A record of publication

  • Experience with collaborative interdisciplinary research

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and writing

  • Skill in analyzing and evaluating data

  • The department is dynamic environment and the position of Post-Doctoral Research Associate will involve working to meet strict deadlines.
