The Opportunity: The Winter Wheat Breeding Program at Washington State University is seeking qualified applicant for a 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) post-doctoral researcher position based on the WSU campus in Pullman, WA. The incumbent will assist in developing a research program focused on developing novel sources of herbicide tolerance in winter wheat. The researcher will screen large genetic populations with different herbicides to identify tolerance. Upon identification of lines tolerant to herbicides, there will be opportunities to investigate the genetic control of the tolerance, identify molecular markers associated with the tolerance, develop screening protocols, and make crosses to develop improved cultivars for commercialization. The long-term goal is to develop novel sources of herbicide tolerance and release commercial cultivars for production in Washington. The incumbent will also participate in outreach to grower groups, development of research proposals, and scholarly outputs.

Additional Information
Annual Salary: $62,232. - $120,000 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
This is a full time (100% FTE), temporary position.
Appointment Duration: This is a temporary position expected to start on September 1, 2026 and end on August 31, 2027. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
