The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work independently in any area of mathematics where large-scale computation, simulation, or data-driven methods play an essential role. The postdoc will have access to Empire AI and will be expected to utilize its substantial computational power in their research. The postdoc will be expected to design algorithms that scale efficiently on GPU clusters, manage distributed computation and storage, and develop analysis pipelines that connect the resulting data back to rigorous mathematics. We are interested in proposals that push the limits of current computational practice in their area – whether through very large simulations, massive combinatorial or statistical searches, or the use of large generative models guided by mathematical structures.The postdoc will be supported by the rich intellectual environment at the CUNY Graduate Center which includes Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, and the Initiative for Theoretical Sciences and is expected to engage with the broader mathematics community to enhance their research and professional development. Candidates are expected to prepare publications and conference talks.
