The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) at the University of Miami invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in meteorology. The research will focus on boundary-layer dynamics and air-sea interactions in tropical cyclones using observational data and high-resolution simulations.

The incumbent will develop and document code to analyze data, apply AI/ML methods, and contribute to publications and NOAA-related field programs, advancing hurricane model physics

Qualifications

• PhD in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field.
• Knowledge of air-sea interactions and boundary-layer processes in hurricanes preferred.
• Advanced programming skills and strong publication record are desirable.

Responsabilités

• Develop clearly written code to analyze observational data sets.
• Apply AI/ML concepts to analyze observational data.
• Produce peer-reviewed manuscripts and present results at conferences.
• Run and analyze high-level numerical models and assess model outputs.
• Collaborate within a diverse team and adhere to SOPs.
