The main targets of the proposal are PFAS, other industrial chemicals will be of interest. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting the chemical analyses but is also expected to take an active role in the project that will include data analysis and manuscripts preparation.

The appointment will be with the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs with Professor Venier as primary supervisor. The postdoctoral fellow will be based in Bloomington, Indiana. The position is expected to last for 24 months beginning as early as July 1, 2025, with opportunities for an additional year of support contingent on funding. The start date is negotiable.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will have earned a Ph.D. in environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, or related fields at the time of appointment. Experience in organic extractions and chemical analyses using mass spectrometry (i.e. GC/MS, LC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS) in the analysis of persistent organic pollutants and in particular for PFAS is required. The successful postdoctoral fellow should have demonstrated an ability to work independently and in a collaborative and dynamic research group. Organizational proficiency and strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
