Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Stroke, and Health Promotion to join an NIH- and VA-funded program focused on increasing daily physical activity after stroke. The fellow will conduct and lead pragmatic clinical trials, collaborating across rehabilitation medicine, neurology, epidemiology, biostatistics, and hospital medicine, to build an independent research career.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Sciences, PT/OT, Behavioral Economics, Public Health, Health Psychology, Kinesiology, or related field.
• Strong interest in stroke recovery, digital health technologies, behavior change, integrative health, and/or clinical trial design.
• Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publication and strong quantitative/analytical skills.
• Experience with statistical programming (e.g., R, SAS)
• Strong scientific writing and communication skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pragmatic clinical trial implementation to increase physical activity post-stroke.
• Examine how behavioral economics and integrative health affect daily steps and patient-reported outcomes.
• Develop approaches at intersection of behavior change, neurorehabilitation, and digital technologies.
• Develop independent research questions and manuscripts based on postdoctoral work.
• Conduct qualitative research with trial participants to inform future designs.
