Job summary

University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation focused on stroke, health promotion, and digital health strategies. The role centers on implementing and leading initiatives within an NIH and VA‑funded program.

The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team spanning rehabilitation medicine, neurology, epidemiology, biostatistics and hospital medicine.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Sciences, Physical or Occupational Therapy, Behavioral Economics, Public Health, Health Psychology, Kinesiology, or a related field.
• Strong interest in stroke recovery, digital health technologies, behavior change, integrative health, and/or clinical trial design.
• Demonstrated track record of peer‑reviewed publication and strong quantitative/analytical skills.
• Experience with statistical programming (e.g., R, SAS)
• Strong scientific writing and communication skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of a pragmatic clinical trial to increase physical activity post‑stroke.
• Examine behavioral economic and integrative health approaches on daily steps and patient‑reported outcomes.
• Develop approaches at the intersection of behavior change, neurorehabilitation, integrative health, and digital technologies.
• Develop independent research questions and manuscripts based on postdoctoral findings.
• Conduct qualitative research with trial participants to inform future designs.
