PREP Research Associate – NIST

The role supports the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program by conducting cutting‑edge research in large‑scale protein sequence‑function measurements. The position collaborates with academic partners to develop predictive models linking protein sequence to function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative research in large‑scale protein sequence‑function measurements.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments; interpret results.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Program and run automated laboratory experiments.
  • Write and publish manuscripts for peer‑reviewed and open‑science outlets.
  • Present findings at conferences and institutional meetings.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Biology, Protein Engineering, Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with E. coli and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience characterizing protein function and/or biophysical properties.
