Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Postdoctoral Appointee to advance portable sensing systems for national security. The role spans hardware, analytical chemistry, data analysis, embedded systems, and fieldable instrument development.

Applicants from electrical engineering or applied physics backgrounds are encouraged, with experience in sensor-based detectors such as ion mobility or mass spectrometry. Hybrid onsite/offsite work is available.

Qualificações

• PhD in physical sciences, environmental sciences, chemistry, or engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and mature prototype portable sensing systems for detection of hazardous compounds.
• Design, build, integrate, and test hardware and subsystems for field-deployable instruments.
• Contribute to instrument control, data acquisition, algorithm development, or hardware/software integration.
• Conduct laboratory characterization studies to evaluate detection performance and sensitivity.
• Develop sampling methods, signal-processing methods for portable platforms.
• Support operational testing and field demonstrations with government stakeholders.
• Collaborate with researchers to transition sensing technologies to deployable systems.
