Job summary

VCU, a premier research university, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Optical Imaging Laboratory in Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will develop and expand optical/thermal imaging devices and validate them for clinical applications, collaborating with a broad network of engineers and clinicians.

The position is expected to last about 5 to 6 months, with possible extension if funding becomes available. Candidates should have a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering or related fields.
• Strong Matlab/Python coding, biomedical optics, and machine learning experience.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and ensure laboratory safety.
• Excellent communication skills with publication/presentation record.

Responsibilities

• Develop and expand optical and thermal imaging technology for clinical applications.
• Create near-infrared optical/thermal imaging devices, perform testing and validation.
• Collaborate with engineers and clinicians across groups.
• Position duration is approximately 5 to 6 months, with potential extension if funded.
