Job summary

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Bikoff lab to study motor circuitry in mice, focusing on spinal interneuron populations and how their synaptic organization shapes movement.

The position offers mentorship, collaboration, and opportunities to develop independent projects using mouse genetics, viral tracing, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, and advanced imaging.

Qualifications

• PhD or MD/PhD in neuroscience or related discipline.
• Ability to independently design and execute experiments and interpret data.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Prior experience in studying neural circuits, including familiarity with mouse genetics and viral tools.
• Familiarity with programming languages (R, Python) and ability to work with large datasets.
• Familiarity with single-cell genomic and/or spatial transcriptomic approaches.

Responsibilities

• Investigate the synaptic and circuit organization of genetically defined populations of spinal interneurons involved in movement.
• Employ mouse genetics, viral tracing, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, and imaging methods.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and provide mentorship to trainees.
• Develop and pursue independent research directions within the lab's focus on motor circuitry.
