Mount Sinai Health System (DOMI) invites a postdoctoral fellow to study pancreatic beta-cell biology, focusing on mechanisms of beta-cell failure and stress resilience in metabolic disease. The role involves leading work on transcription factor dynamics and novel therapeutic small-molecule glues to protect beta-cells from glucolipotoxicity and cytokine stress.
The position requires hands-on mouse handling, core molecular biology and biochemistry work, and returning high-impact publications; a

The laboratory investigates pancreatic beta-cell biology, focusing on the mechanisms of beta-cell failure, adaptive expansion, and stress resilience in metabolic disease. Supported by multiple active NIH R01 and R03 grants, this project specifically evaluates transcription factor dynamics, including the ChREBP axis, and cytoprotective mechanisms. The incoming postdoctoral fellow will lead efforts to study early drivers of beta-cell failure and evaluate novel therapeutic small-molecule 14-3-3 molecular glues (such as Compound 43) designed to shield beta-cells from glucolipotoxicity and cytokine stress.
Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
Candidates must possess a strong, demonstrable background in molecular biology and biochemistry. Mandatory hands-on experience in mouse handling and in vivo protocols is required. Prior expertise in pancreatic islet biology is highly preferred.
To elucidate the pathways mediating beta-cell failure and validate therapeutic interventions utilizing molecular glues to preserve beta-cell mass and function. The fellow will be expected to drive the project toward high-impact peer-reviewed publications, present research at national/international conferences (such as the ADA Scientific Sessions or HIRN meetings), and contribute to grant applications.
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,692.00 - $80,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
