The position focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the development of lung diseases and lung cancer with inhaled exposures.

The Sears’ federally funded laboratory studies DNA damage and repair in lung cancer development and treatment response.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in related field.
  • Experience with molecular/cellular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA/Protein isolation, histology, immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry, microscopy and image analyses.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, scientific recording and writing skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Interest in lung cancer, inhalational exposures, or related lung disease areas.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on cellular and molecular mechanisms of lung diseases and lung cancer with inhaled exposures.
  • Perform in vitro and in vivo studies using animal models and various cell types.
  • Apply molecular and cellular techniques, immunofluorescence and histological analyses.
