Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support laboratory research focused on kidney development, neonatal kidney disease, and the long-term consequences of early-life kidney injury. The successful candidate will have experience with animal models, histology, and molecular biology and be willing to learn or has experience working with human biospecimens.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Charlottesville, VA.

Qualifications

• PhD required at hire time.
• Experience with laboratory animals, including mice.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform animal research procedures and maintain study records.
• Conduct histologic studies and molecular biology techniques.
• Process and analyze human biospecimens per protocols.
• Maintain notebooks, databases, and inventory.
• Assist with experimental design, data collection and presentation.
• Train and supervise students and lab personnel.
• Ensure compliance with safety, biosafety and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams toward shared goals.
• Contribute to abstracts, manuscripts, and grant materials.
