Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in the Yamashita Laboratory to explore how T cell–mediated immune surveillance regulates hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow.

The goal is to define mechanisms that influence clonal maintenance, graft-versus-leukemia activity, and hematologic disease outcomes. The successful candidate will work with state-of-the-art mouse models, flow cytometry, single-cell technologies, and collaborative teams to

Qualifications

  • Strong background in immunology, hematology, stem cell biology, or related biomedical discipline.
  • Experience with mouse handling and in vivo experimentation.
  • Experience with flow cytometry and immune cell phenotyping.
  • Experience with standard molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Ability to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and interpret results independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including manuscript preparation.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to scientific rigor, creativity, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research on T cell–mediated regulation of HSCs and bone marrow immunity.
  • Design and perform experiments using mouse models, flow cytometry, and molecular biology.
  • Apply single-cell and other advanced technologies to study immune–stem cell interactions and disease mechanisms.
  • Analyze data, present findings at meetings, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to grant and manuscript preparation.
  • Mentor students and trainees in a collaborative research environment.
