Job description

Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope

where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

A postdoctoral position is available within the Division of Health Equities. The division engages the community in cancer prevention and control education; increases awareness and utilization of resources; and promotes community participation in health and biomedical research. Our model is a community participatory approach to build infrastructure, capacity, and advocacy in diverse communities to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes for all.

This position is within Dr. Ashing's lab, which focuses on team science, community engagement, behavioral science, cancer survivorship, and health equity. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension up to three years. Our research program employs team science, including implementation science, data science, geospatial analysis, epidemiology, and machine learning, to understand disease, biological, socioecological, behavioral, and patient outcome factors in diverse populations, emphasizing ethnic, cultural, and societal determinants. Projects target multiethnic populations, including Asian, Pacific Islanders, Latinos, and Blacks, with a focus on underrepresented groups in research. Specific areas include tobacco-related research, cancer survivorship, and disparities in multiethnic US and immigrant populations such as Blacks and Caribbeans.
