Job description

The laboratory of Dr. Hopkins examines the role of genetic and non-genetic factors on individual and phylogenetic variation in cognition and the brain. This includes testing nonhuman primates on a variety of cognitive functions using automated and manual testing systems. Additionally, our laboratory uses a number of neuroimaging techniques to assess anatomical and functional organization of the brain. This includes structural magnetic resonance imaging diffusion tensor imaging, resting state functional MRI and positron emission tomography. Our laboratory is currently focusing on the mechanisms that influence the neurobiology of age-related changes in cognition in relation to the brain in nonhuman primates. Addition studies are focusing biomarkers of neurodegeneration in multiple primate species.

Primary goal is to assist in the development of 2D cell and 3D organoids in multiple nonhuman primate species. Application of these alternative model systems to address novel research questions related to primate brain aging and neurodegeneration. Acquire additional skills in neuropathological analyses of postmortem brain tissues.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Develop expertise and skills in the application and use of a variety of neuroimaging tools used with images acquired in different modalities.

Master statistical analyses used to analyze neuroimaging and behavior data measured with different scales of measurement.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
PhD in neuroscience, psychology or related disciplines. Experience developing and using 2D cell cultures a and or organoids required. Previous work with nonhuman primates and experience using post-image analysis tools in neuroimaging desirable.

POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000. depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
