Job summary

UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Full-time) in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in Houston, Texas. The fellow will lead research projects on proton-activated chloride channels, developing expertise across experimental approaches and contributing to new directions within the lab.

Qualifications

PhD (or doctoral level) in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a closely related field.
Strong experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing skills.
Ability to mentor students and collaborate across teams.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, perform, analyze, and interpret experiments using multiple approaches.
Operate and maintain specialized instrumentation and develop expertise in advanced techniques.
Maintain organized experimental records, datasets, and protocols for reproducibility.
Assist with training and mentoring of graduate students and technicians.
Develop and validate new laboratory protocols and experimental procedures.
Prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations describing research findings.
Present results at lab meetings and conferences and engage in scholarly discourse.
