The Baumel-Alterzon Lab in the Arthur Riggs Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute, within the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, is looking for a highly motivated and team-science-minded Postdoctoral Fellow.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Study the importance of redox regulation in the expansion and differentiation of pancreatic beta-cells, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for beta-cell regeneration in diabetes.
  • Research diabetic mouse models, primary islets, and stem cell-derived islets, utilizing techniques such as fluorescence microscopy, proteomics, RNA-seq, CRISPR-Cas9, and animal model characterization.
  • Be exposed to cutting-edge science and collaboration with world-class clinical and research faculty.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • A Ph.D. in life sciences, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, or a related discipline is required.
  • Prior experience in molecular biology is required.
  • Hands-on experience in proteomics workflows—from sample preparation to data interpretation—is required.
  • Prior experience with animal work is a plus.
