Emory University School of Medicine invites applications for a postdoctoral position focused on the mechanisms of HIV-1 entry into cells. The lab combines molecular biology, virology, and quantitative microscopy, including super-resolution techniques and cryo-CLEM, to study viral entry steps and host restriction factors such as IFITM3 and SERINC5.
Qualified candidates hold a PhD in virology, cell biology, or biophysics; fluorescence microscopy experience is preferred.
A postdoctoral position is available at the Emory University School of Medicine to work on the mechanisms of HIV-1 entry into cells. We combine molecular/cell biology/virology approaches with quantitative microscopy techniques, including super-resolution microscopy, and correlative light-cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-CLEM), to elucidate key steps of viral entry/fusion and its restriction by host factors, such as IFITM3 and SERINC5.
Highly motivated individuals holding a Ph.D. degree in virology, cell biology, biophysics or related fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates with fluorescence microscopy experience will be favorably considered. Emory University provides excellent training and collaborative environment for research. For more information regarding projects in the laboratory, please visit: http://www.pedsresearch.org/research-group/melikian-lab. Interested applicants should contact Dr. Gregory Melikian (aka Melikyan) at gmeliki@emory.edu.
The candidate will be responsible for designing and performing virology and imaging experiments, analyzing data, and drafting manuscripts.
