Job summary

University of Houston in Houston, TX seeks a Postdoctoral researcher to lead aerosol measurements for James Flynn’s lab at the ASCENT site. You will manage instrument operations, perform QA/QC, and drive data processing and publications.

Applicant must have a PhD in a related field and substantial experience with aerosol instruments; experience with AMS is strongly preferred. Position is grant funded and at least 12 months with possible extension.

Qualifications

PhD in atmospheric science, atmospheric chemistry, chemistry, physics, engineering, or related fields.
Strong background in aerosol science and operation of aerosol instrumentation.
Experience with Aerosol Mass Spectrometers and/or Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitors preferred.

Responsibilities

Receives/Reviews progress and evaluates results of experiments or projects under control or supervisory responsibility.
Recommends changes in research, testing or experimental procedures.
May be responsible for a single highly technical and complex piece of research equipment.
May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel.
May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.
Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.
May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.
Performs other job-related duties as required.
Lead instrument operations including QA/QC checks and maintenance.
Handle data processing, analysis, and lead publications.
Oversee ASCENT site operations at UH.
