Job summary

Tempus is seeking a PhD-level scientist to advance clinical and genomic cancer research. You will apply computational methods to real-world patient data across genomic, transcriptomic, histopathological, and clinical domains to improve understanding of cancers and precision medicine outcomes.

You will develop independent research projects in genomic-guided medicine and collaborate with clinicians, molecular biologists, and data scientists across Tempus.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computational Biology or MD/PhD with translational cancer research experience.
  • Proven record of first-author or co-first author papers in top journals.
  • Ability to design and execute studies bridging molecular and clinical cancer data.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in R or Python or willingness to acquire analytics skills linked to clinical data.

Job description

  • Conduct cutting-edge clinical and genomic cancer research
  • Apply computational methods to real-world patient data, including genomic, transcriptomic, histopathological, and/or clinical data
  • Improve understanding of target cancers and advance precision medicine to improve patient outcomes
  • Develop independent research projects in genomic-guided medicine
  • Collaborate with clinicians, molecular biologists, data scientists, and departments across Tempus
  • Use access to de-identified samples, organoid repositories, genomic and pharmacological screening data, and computational resources
Requirements
  • PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or related field OR PhD and/or MD with extensive experience in clinical & translational cancer research
  • Demonstrated record of innovative scientific accomplishments, evidenced by at least one first-author or co-first author key paper in a top journal
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute studies bridging molecular and clinical cancer data
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient in R, Python or other analytical programming language OR desire to acquire analytical skills and link with clinical/translational domain knowledge
