The University of Miami invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics, based in Miami, FL. The position focuses on unraveling GPCR signaling mechanisms and their role in nervous system function and neuropsychiatric disease.

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics is currently seeking a full time Postdoctoral Associate to work in Miami. The Postdoctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Postdoctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

The work will be focused on unraveling molecular, cellular and behavioral mechanisms underlying function of G Protein Coupled Receptor (GPCR) signaling pathways and understanding their role in nervous system function and neuropsychiatric disease. Projects will encompass studies in the following areas. (i)Neurobiological mechanisms underlying synaptic connectivity and circuit function; (ii) Development and behavioral characterization of mouse models of neurological and psychiatric illness, (iii) Development and use of optical sensors to understand neuromodulation,(iv) Molecular and cellular mechanisms of GPCR signaling and trafficking (v) Genetic and proteomic screens to identify novel GPCR regulators. (vi) Structural basis of receptor signaling and drug discovery.
