Job description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE - Gallay Lab - Immunology and Microbiology

Job Category: Postdoctoral Associates/Fellows

ABOUT US:

POSITION TITLE: Postdoctoral Associate

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dr. Gallay lab in the Immunology and Microbiology department is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate researcher to discover new therapeutic candidates that can effectively combat SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 in both mice and in vitro models.

While the development of effective vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, vaccine hesitancy in developed countries and vast shortages in low-to-middle income countries are jeopardizing efforts to curb the pandemic. It is estimated that significant proportions of the population are unlikely to be vaccinated until 2030, at the earliest. Consequently, the conditions are ripe for continued spike mutation and evolution to increasingly transmissible strains causing more severe illness. Some of these emerging strains should challenge the protection of current vaccines. Therefore, there is an urgent need to identify new therapies to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 infection and prevent COVID-19.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a doctoral degree. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with the approval of the Principal Investigator. Candidates should have work experience with mice.

Include your CV and three professional references as a part of your application.

COMPENSATION: Postdoctoral Associates will be hired following the National Institute of Health and California’s exempt salary guidelines, which provide for a starting range of $68,000- $73,230. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.

COMPREHENSIVE BENEFITS INCLUDE:

  • Eligibility for retirement plans with employer contribution.
  • Full suite of Health and Welfare plans including three medical plan options (including an HSA available option), dental, vision, life insurance, disability, EAP and more.
  • Access to Flexible Spending Accounts (Medical/Dependent Care).
  • Competitive vacation and sick leave policies.
  • Free, on-site Counseling Center which provides confidential counseling services to benefits-eligible employees and their family members.
  • Free, on-site parking.
