Postdoctoral Associate- Cancer Immunotherapy

Job Title: Postdoctoral Associate- Cancer Immunotherapy

Division: Pediatrics

Work Arrangement: Onsite only

Location: Houston, TX

Salary Range: Hiring up to $64,356

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The postdoctoral associate will be part of a research team consisting of physicians, scientists, students, fellows, and technicians to support research on cancer immunotherapy using CAR T cells. The individual must have sufficient knowledge of immunology or cancer biology and experimental skills in molecular biology, cell culture, and immune assays. The research will focus on developing and optimizing novel gene-modified T-cells against solid tumors. The postdoctoral associate will work directly with the PI.

Job Duties
  • Conducts pre-clinical and translational research.
  • Works with the PI to develop scientific ideas into projects.
  • Designs and performs experiments to test the hypothesis.
  • Records and summarizes research data generated from experiments.
  • Troubleshoots independently and with guidance from the PI depending on the task.
  • Specific laboratory techniques to be used include but are not limited to the following: cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplex, PCR/cloning/retroviral gene transfer/library preparations, cytotoxicity assays (multiple methods), processing of peripheral blood and immune cells, production/maintenance/cryopreservation of gene-modified cells, CyTOF, sc RNA/ATAC seq, and western blotting.
  • Works with mouse models of cancer after appropriate training as per institutional guidelines. All projects involve some amount of mouse work; hence, being able to work with mouse models is a must for this position.
  • Analyzes, compiles, and communicates research data with direct supervision from the PI.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in cancer immunology or immunotherapy research.
  • Knowledgeable about CAR T cells and cGMP guidelines.
  • Familiar with collecting and analyzing flow cytometry data and single-cell data.
  • Knowledge of MS Office/Prism software/R.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Communication skills needed to work with different external teams.
