Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on projects related to pediatric brain tumors at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The position is located in the Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Center.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to researchers as requested.
  • Perform laboratory work involving genetics, molecular biology, and data analysis, including breeding, genotyping, and sample/data collection (mouse handling preferred but not required).
  • Execute sequencing-related tasks using RNA‑seq, WGS/WES, OGM, and long‑read sequencing modalities.
  • Analyze sequencing data using R or Python.
  • Use molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA extraction, Western blotting, and hmwDNA extraction.
  • Maintain experimental data in Redcap and other project‑related databases.
  • Prepare data and figures for presentations, grants, publications, and progress reports.
  • Assist in writing grant proposals and progress reports related to research projects.
  • Participate in regular lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars.
  • Perform other related job functions as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or M.D. in a biological or medical science program.
  • Experience working with tissue, RNA, DNA, and sequencing modalities (RNA‑seq, WGS/WES, OGM, long‑read sequencing).
  • Proficiency in sequencing data analysis and familiarity with R/Python.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory methods: agarose gel electrophoresis, PCR, DNA purification, Western blotting, and PCR analysis.
  • Experience with mouse handling and/or surgery is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Salary

Salary range: $46,280.00–$75,670.40.
