Postdoctoral Appointee - MSD Neutron & X-Ray Scattering

Join to apply for the Postdoctoral Appointee - MSD Neutron & X-Ray Scattering role at Argonne National Laboratory.

The neutron and x-ray scattering group in the Materials Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory has an open position for a postdoctoral appointee. The research will focus on studying magnetic correlations and dynamics in disordered magnetic systems, as well as local atomic correlations in disordered structural lattices using neutron and/or X-ray scattering techniques. This involves measuring and modeling magnetic and structural diffuse scattering on compounds of interest.

Position Requirements
  • A Ph.D. in physics, materials science, chemistry, or a related field, received within the last 3 years or upcoming year.
  • Basic familiarity with scripting or programming for data analysis.
  • Ability to model and embody Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.
Desired Skills
  • Solid experimental background in the magnetic and structural properties of hard materials.
  • Experience with neutron and/or X-ray scattering is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience in modeling and working with large data sets is beneficial.
