Mercifully, MERL is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in AI for Science to pursue independent, curiosity-driven research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and scientific discovery within a collaborative industrial research lab.

The successful candidate will define and lead a research agenda aligned with MERL’s strategic interests in applying AI to challenging problems in industrial and scientific domains, advancing foundational methods while demonstrating impact in real-world

Qualifications

PhD required or expected completion before start date.
Strong background in ML/AI and computational science.
Experience applying AI to scientific/engineering domains as described.
Evidence of independent research with publications.
Excellent communication and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Define and pursue an independent AI-for-Science research program.
Develop novel ML/AI methodologies for discovery, modeling and design.
Collaborate across disciplines to connect fundamental advances with applications.
Publish results in top-tier conferences and journals.
Contribute to open-source software, datasets or artifacts where appropriate.
