The Abudayyeh-Gootenberg lab (abugootlab.org) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School is looking for a talented computational biologist to join our biotechnology and molecular engineering group as a postdoc. The candidate will join a team to study stem cells using genome-scale functional genomics approaches and single cell technologies. Candidate will be responsible for processing large amounts of single cell data, building deep learning models to understand the data, and work towards predictive models that can predict cellular responses to perturbations. The ultimate goal is to produce enough perturbation data across different cell types to build data models that can predict cellular responses and lead to novel therapeutic interventions.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties contributing to the research, including formulation of questions, experiments, and results evaluation. (essential)
  • Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under PI’s guidance. (essential)
  • Develops expertise in lab skills, informatics, physics, or clinical research; gains proficiency with research tools and equipment; works more independently over time. (essential)
  • Contributes new ideas to promote research; brings new expertise to the team. (essential)
  • Provides supervision of students and projects when appropriate. (essential)
  • Participates in collaborative meetings, attends and leads seminars. (essential)
  • Identifies and addresses personal performance deficiencies. (essential)
  • Pursues and secures independent funding near the end of the fellowship. (essential)

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Degree or M.D.
  • 0-1 year of postdoctoral research experience in academic or industrial labs, teaching, residency, or clinical duties beyond doctoral degree. (preferred)
