Job summary

Auburn University’s College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral Fellow position focused on developing new wood composites using fibers from natural resources. The appointment is limited-term and non-tenure-track, funded externally and renewable subject to funding.

The position will begin around October 1, 2026, and lasts 12 months with the potential for renewal contingent on funding and performance.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in wood science, forest bioproducts, or a closely related field at time of employment.
  • Expertise with wood-based composites
  • Expertise in wood polymer composite manufacturing and characterization
  • Experience on thermally modified wood and its characterization
  • The successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to timely completion of deliverables, publication of results in peer-reviewed journals, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders on a visible research topic.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment begins and continue working legally for the proposed term (no sponsorship).

Responsibilities

  • Help build a wood and related composites research platform focused on composite manufacturing and characterization.
  • Develop new research ideas, write research proposals, and publish high-impact research articles.

Skills

Strong research background in wood
Familiarity with wood-related COMPOS
Excellent written and interpersonal沟通

Education

Ph.D. or equivalent in wood science/forest bioproducts
