Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow to contribute to federally funded research on gun violence, suicide, and youth behavioral health. The role offers structured mentorship, opportunities to lead manuscripts, develop grants, and build an independent research program within a dynamic team.

The candidate will engage in quantitative analyses, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to technology-enabled prevention research.

Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent by start date
Strong quantitative skills and experience analyzing behavioral, clinical, or public health data
Proven scientific writing expertise with peer-reviewed publications
Ability to lead or contribute to scientific manuscripts
Excellent organizational and project-management skills
Collaborative and inclusive work style with diverse teams
Experience with study design and statistical methods

Responsibilities

Lead and contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts
Develop first-author publications from existing and new data
Contribute to grant applications and independent fellowship proposals
Design and analyze longitudinal, observational, experimental and intervention data
Conduct quantitative analyses of behavioral and public health data
Support IRB submissions and regulatory documentation
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within SPH and partners
Present findings at local, national, and international meetings
Engage in mentorship and professional development activities
