Job summary

National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Synthetic Biology and Bioconversion group to engineer a non-model but genetically amenable bacterium for aerobic conversion of C1 substrates to fuels and chemicals. Initial appointment is one year with possible renewal up to three years.

The successful candidate will conduct metabolic engineering and synthetic biology work, publish results, and collaborate across disciplines in a mission-driven lab near Golden, CO.

Qualifications

• Must be a PhD graduate within the last three years.
• Strong understanding of bacterial metabolism and genetics.
• Experience in metabolic engineering and synthetic biology including designing synthetic operons, constructing plasmids, and genome editing.
• Experience in development and implementation of synthetic biology tools.
• Strong safety record and ability to deliver high-quality results within aggressive timelines.
