Job summary

The ACM Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in machine learning and biomedical imaging. You will contribute to AI-driven software leveraging LLMs, multi-agent reasoning, and scalable analysis of large neuroimaging datasets.

Ideal candidates have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and will collaborate across Psychiatry and Computer Science, with a 12-month appointment starting February 16, 2026.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a technical discipline relevant to ML, imaging or data science.
  • Experience with Agentic AI, multi-agent systems, LLMs or CV/ DL architectures.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and at least one of Python/Java/R.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep-learning approaches for insight and analysis about mouse behavior from video.
  • Apply statistics and ML to analyze high-dimensional medical imaging data.
  • Build scalable Python/Scala/C++ libraries and ensure automated, high-quality results.
  • Advance neurodisorder understanding via computational approaches.
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver solutions.
  • Present work at national and international conferences.
