Dr. Ling Huang’s laboratory at Henry Ford Health (an academic partner of Michigan State University) is seeking highly motivated and ambitious postdoctoral researchers to join our mission to combat pancreatic cancer—the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States.

Our lab is at the forefront of developing patient-derived organoid models to dissect the biology of pancreatic cancer—from early initiation to treatment resistance in late-stage disease. We aim to uncover new mechanisms of cancer progression and leverage these discoveries to develop novel diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies.

We actively collaborate with clinicians and industry partners to accelerate translational research, bridging laboratory discoveries with patient care. Our work has been published in high-impact journals, including Nature Medicine and Cell Stem Cell.

Research Environment

You will join a dynamic and well-supported research environment at the Henry Ford Pancreatic Cancer Center, which was established with a $36 million philanthropic gift. Our facilities offer cutting-edge technologies including:

• Advanced confocal and high-content imaging
• Single-cell transcriptomics
• Fully equipped histology and drug screening platforms

Your Role

As a postdoctoral fellow, you will:

• Design and execute cutting-edge research projects
• Analyze data and contribute to scientific discovery
• Prepare manuscripts and present findings at national/international conferences
• Mentor research staff and junior trainees

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who:

• Hold (or expect to soon obtain) a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant biological discipline
• Have a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, cancer genetics, stem cell biology, or related areas
• Bring hands-on experience in organoid culture, stem cell techniques, ion signaling, or animal surgery (preferred but not required)
• Are self-driven, creative, and enthusiastic about tackling big scientific questions
• Demonstrate proficiency in scientific communication and writing in English
• Be open to feedback, proactive in sharing ideas, and committed to fostering a supportive and respectful lab culture.
