Job summary

Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to investigate mitochondrial remodeling in neurons. The lab employs in vitro and in vivo techniques, including 2-photon microscopy on anesthetized and awake mice, in utero electroporation, and genetic/viral targeting of defined cell types.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics or other relevant area.
  • Familiar with standard molecular and cell biology lab techniques.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic about science.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and write summaries of results.
  • Must be efficient with time and project management.
  • Must multi-task in an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Study the roles of mitochondria in neurons and how their remodeling affects development, aging and neurodegeneration.
  • Use in vitro and in vivo techniques including 2-photon microscopy in mice.
  • Utilize in utero electroporation and genetic/viral targeting to defined cell types.
  • Apply proteomics and other state-of-the-art resources.
  • Mentor and collaborate with other scientists and trainees.
