Job summary

Pennington Biomedical Research Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Mitochondrial Energetics and Nutrient Utilization (MENU) Laboratory to advance clinical dietetics and precision nutrition studies. The role focuses on designing innovative research, analyzing complex multi‑omics data, and disseminating findings through publications and presentations.

Qualifications

PhD in nutrition, physiology, or closely related biomedical discipline.
Two years of experience conducting independent laboratory research in nutrition, metabolism, or related biomedical discipline.
Proficiency in molecular, cellular, biochemical, and physiological laboratory techniques.
Experience analyzing complex data with bioinformatics focus.
Scholarly publications and presentations.
Knowledge of experimental design and translational/basic biomedical research.
Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
Experience mentoring researchers or students is preferred.
Commitment to laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Design and conduct independent and collaborative research on diet‑health relationships using advanced approaches.
Analyze high‑dimensional datasets with bioinformatics techniques for metabolic pathways.
Plan and optimize metabolic assessment methods like clamps and OGTT/MET tests.
Handle large datasets from NHANES and other databases to meet objectives.
Implement lab techniques including mass spectrometry and molecular biology.
Prepare manuscripts and presentations for journals and conferences.
Contribute to grant proposals and sponsored research activities.
Collaborate with investigators to develop new methodologies and strategies.
Mentor graduate students and staff; maintain accurate research records.
