Job summary

The MUSC Health laboratory of Dr. Sungjin Ko at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a postdoctoral fellow for a multi-year NIH-funded project to study liver cancer and liver regeneration using in vitro stem cell-based models and mouse systems.

You will design and execute experiments, analyze data, and contribute to manuscripts while collaborating with a dynamic team and mentoring graduate students and staff.

Qualifications

• Strong background in molecular and cellular biology.
• Experience with animal models and in vivo studies.
• Experience with RNA-seq, organoid culture, CRISPR, or bioinformatics.
• Interest in liver biology and cancer biology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct NIH-funded research on liver regeneration and cancer, including iPSC/stem cell culture and mouse models.
• Maintain accurate lab records and ensure reproducibility of results.
• Support daily lab operations, including cell culture and mouse colony management.
• Mentor graduate students and research staff, sharing expertise and maintaining high scientific standards.
• Prepare manuscripts and present findings at meetings; contribute to data analysis and figure preparation.
• Work with the PI to develop new research proposals and pursue grant opportunities.
