Job summary

University of Pittsburgh – Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition / Bioengineering seeks a Postdoctoral Associate or Research Scientist to advance systems neuroscience and neuroengineering. The role investigates basal ganglia circuits, dopamine dynamics, and learning, using Neuropixels, fiber photometry, voltammetry, and high-density neural sensors in primates and humans where possible.

Applicants should have a PhD and a strong publication record, with programming skills in MATLAB or Python

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, engineering, biology, psychology, computer science or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, work ethics and motivational drive.
  • Ability to design and carry out research independently, with evidence of high quality research (e.g., publication record).

Responsibilities

  • Investigate basal ganglia circuits and dopamine dynamics using multiple neurophysiological techniques.
  • Collaborate with Pitt, CMU, UPMC and external institutes to maximize research impact.
  • Lead data analysis and contribute to dissemination of findings through publications.
