Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM, seeks a highly qualified experimental nuclear physicist to advance the NDSE diagnostic platform. The candidate will develop subsystems, support on-site deployment, and contribute to applied research within a cross-disciplinary team.

Travel will be required, and the role may require obtaining a DOE Q clearance; the appointment is for two years with a possible third year based on performance and funding.

Qualifications

• Strong background in neutron, gamma-ray, or charged particle detection.
• Experience with particle/radiation transport simulations and data analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability of verbal and written communication through scientific publications and presentations.
• Willingness and capability for regular travel; ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop subsystems for the NDSE diagnostic platform.
• Support deployment of the system at NNSS.
• Perform applied nuclear physics research in support of the subcritical experimental program.
• Collaborate within the Advanced Diagnostics Development and Integration team.
