Job summary

The Department of Urology at UCLA is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to advance a basic science project on bacteria and biofilms related to kidney stones and translational surgical device design. The successful candidate will design and coordinate experiments under the supervision of Kymora Scotland, MD, PhD.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a biomedical science field.
• Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques and cell culture, immunohistochemistry (IHC), confocal imaging of fixed materials, micro-computed tomography (micro CT), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and scanning electron microscopy.
• Isolation of preparing all manners of reagents for experiments.

Responsibilities

• Design, perform and coordinate lab experiments involving patient-derived materials.
• Mentor trainees with the PI in the laboratory, gather and analyze data, prepare presentations, write manuscripts, and write and prepare grant applications.
