Job summary

Michigan State University’s Burns Laboratory seeks a postdoctoral scholar to study molecular mechanisms of endometrial function and endometriosis using spatial transcriptomics, single-cell genomics, and in vitro models. This position will support NIH-funded research and contribute to experimental design, data generation, and analysis.

The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively, mentor trainees, and have opportunities to participate in external funding applications.

Qualifications

  • Terminal Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., reproductive biology, molecular biology, cell biology)
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques and experimental design
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a research team
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing approaches (optional)
  • Interest in reproductive biology or gynecologic disease (optional)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory-based experiments using molecular biology techniques (RNA isolation, library preparation, gene expression analyses)
  • Support workflows related to spatial transcriptomics and sequencing-based assays
  • Assist in design and execution of experiments using human tissue samples and in vitro models
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and data
  • Analyze and interpret data with the PI and team
  • Contribute to manuscripts, reports, and presentations
  • Mentor students and junior lab members
  • Maintain lab organization, safety, and compliance
  • Coordinate with collaborators and core facilities
