Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) are conducting a research project on Rio Grande wild turkey harvest and population monitoring in Western Oklahoma. OSU will fill 6 full-time, temporary technician positions to assist with field research January–April 2026.
Location: Roger Mills and Ellis counties, OK
Salary: $15/hour (plus housing)
Responsibilities include capture and handling of Rio Grande wild turkeys (GPS tags), deploying/retrieving camera traps and ARUs, monitoring tagged birds, investigating mortality sites, data entry, and equipment maintenance. Ability to follow directions, work in teams and independently, and maintain a positive disposition is required.
Shared housing is provided. Lodging includes bunk beds, shared living space, and a full bathroom. Technicians must cover their own food. Wi‑Fi available at fieldhouse. Remote lodging and distance to towns (30–45 minutes) should be anticipated. Work trucks provided.
