Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Kumar Laboratory to investigate drug-microbiome-immune interactions and to drive foundational projects with high intellectual ownership.

The role requires mastering experimental workflows in molecular microbiology and in vivo models, and aims to establish a strong publication record with PI collaboration.

Qualifications

• PhD in Microbiology or related biomedical discipline.
• Experience with bacterial communities and pathogens.
• Experience with bacterial genetics and animal infection models.
• Computational microbiome analysis with R/Python preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute mechanistic studies on drug-microbiome-immune interactions.
• Prepare high-impact manuscripts and develop grant applications.
• Develop protocols across anaerobic bacteriology, genetics, and animal models.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate rotation students and collaborate across the department.
• Participate in seminars and career development programs.
